I just had my first (and hopefully only) surgical abortion without sedation 1 hour ago. I chose a high-end clinic in Atlanta that had great reviews and made me feel comfortable from the moment I scheduled 6 days ago. My partner and I both knew if anything like this were to occur, abortion was a no-brainer and both agreed a conversation wouldn’t even need to be had. Within minutes of my confirmed pregnancy test the appointment was reserved.
When I arrived, the receptionist was very kind, along with the other staff. After going back, ultrasound, legalities and informative discussion was complete, I was brought into the surgical room. My cervix was numbed, but during the procedure, I experienced the absolute worst cramps of my entire life. Thankfully it doesn’t last too long. After my physician was finished, I left and still experiencing some minor cramping. Ultimately, the feeling of relief and knowing this was the best decision I could have made is worth the brief time of pain. I feel like a new woman, and that a dark cloud is removed from above my head. No second guessing happened during the process and have no regrets or guilt. Regardless of what others may say about their experiences, you are entitled to your own emotions. You are not wrong if you feel refreshed and relieved and not sad or remorseful! Mistakes happen and you do what’s best for you.
