The Judgement and Labels

July 30, 2026

Note: The Exhale Pro-Voice After-Abortion Stories collection features people’s stories of their experiences and emotions, exactly as they have written them in. We do not edit these stories at all, and the content that follows this message is exactly as we received it. We know that people’s experiences are complex, and these stories reflect the many emotions they may be feeling after their abortions. From relief to grief, and everything in between, and all at the same time, we’re here for you.

I’m 17. I haven’t had my abortion yet. I have to wait a week because I caught it so early. Maybe I will write another entry after having taken the pills.

The abortion itself isn’t what occupies my mind. Ive never in my life thought that if I got pregnant by accident I would keep the baby, although I now understand why some people do and I am going to mourn my unborn baby.

What I keep thinking about is the judgement and labels that would be placed on me if people knew. It’s like keeping a secret. Especially because I wasn’t in a relationship with the boy who got me pregnant.

I was on my period and he wore a condom. It broke.

He told his friends. He refused to buy me a plan b because he didn’t think it was possible to get pregnant on your period and I didn’t have any money to buy one myself. Then he blocked me immediately after exiting my house.
He doesn’t have to deal with any fraction of what I’m going through and i’m going through so much
i’m angry
it’s not fair
