Pregnant Virgin (by Dictionary.com’s Definition) Who Got an Abortion
I just wanted to share my story.
Long story short, I got pregnant without sexual intercourse then got a medical abortion.
For as long as I can remember, I have had difficulty getting anything into my vagina. Every time anyone applied any sort of pressure to the outside, it would cause a lot of pain, and for this reason, I am a “virgin.”
And yet, I got pregnant because he deposited outside the vagina. I think that somehow I thought the hymen was supposed to act as a barrier. or that the fact that nothing can go in means that nothing, including sperm, can go in. There was a strong wall outside my vagina that never let anything enter, and would hurt to push at all. I guess I have been hearing too many stories of people struggling to conceive. I guess it didn’t occur to me that people could in fact get pregnant this way.
I guess the hardest parts weren’t the abortion itself. but that people in the clinics would judge me for not using protection when it was simply just a misunderstanding on my part. I didn’t know you needed a condom or something when the penis was totally outside like that. Some people in the clinic would not believe me for never having had intercourse and ask me if I were lying or hiding information…. It was hard because even people in the medical profession were confused about my situation. Most had never seen anything like it before, and the one that had had only seen it a long long time ago.
However, I think it is more common than people make it out to be… and I just want people to know that if they are in the same situation, they are definitely not alone.
Anyway, so I got a medical abortion–the abortion pill or whatever you want to call it. This wasn’t so bad to me. I think the thing I feared most was the possibility of having to do a surgical abortion if it failed.
Before and after the medical abortion, they are supposed to do a transvaginal ultrasound. I was unable to do one because of the great amounts of pain. I am pretty sure I have severe vaginismus (the fourth or fifth class if you look on wikipedia) making it impossible for anything to enter. It just basically caused a lot of complications, and it was frustrating. because people couldn’t just go along with the typical procedures. The way I was just caused so many delays and complications because the people in the clinic kept having to make phone calls to other people in other clinics to ask what to do since they couldn’t do the usual.
Instead of doing the transvaginal ultrasound, they did an abdominal ultrasound to see how developed it was to confirm I could take the pill.
For the followup, they are doing a series of blood tests. I have yet to learn the results.
But in the end, everything turned out okay. I just felt alone and different and defective.
but I guess there’s nothing too bad about everything. The pain is treatable, and I apparently have no infertility problems. That is something to be happy about!
I just want everyone to be more aware of this! that you can get pregnant without any sort of penetration ever.
And that if you also experience the same pain as I do, be careful for that does not mean you cannot get pregnant.
